FAQs

  • How do I find Basils Farm?

From Junction 9 of the M1 motorway proceed in a westerly direction on the A5 and by the Pack Horse Inn, turn left onto B4540 signed to Whipsnade Zoo. At the top of the hill, turn left onto Clay Hall Road and after proceeding across the crossroad into Byslips Road, the entrance to the property will appear on your left after approximately 0.6 miles.

  • Parking

Please follow the directions above and park inside the gate in our official car park. Please do not park outside the gate as large lorries and farm machinery requires access at all times.

  • Clothing

Suitable outdoor clothing must be worn at all times by everyone on site. Even in the Summer months, trousers and closed-toed shoes must be worn. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty! Attendees will be outdoors all the time with very little shelter. Spare clothes are recommended in case of accidents or clothes becoming wet due to rain or mud.

  • Summer Months

You may wish to apply sunscreen, in which case please do this before arrival on site. Water is available but a personal water bottle is recommended. You may wish to apply insect repellent, in which case please also do this before arrival on site.

  • Food

For all-day bookings, please provide your child with a healthy snack (fruit/cereal bar), water and a packed lunch. No nuts are allowed on site to protect those with an allergy. Tea and coffee are available for adults. Please make us aware if your child has any special dietary requirements and/or allergies.

  • Medicine and Health

Please inform us of any medical or dietary issues and if required provide inhalers or EpiPens for us to keep safe. We are not authorised to give any medication to children but please advise the Forest School Leader about the use of inhalers or EpiPens. In case of emergency or medical issues, a trained member of the Basils Farm will administer First Aid. Parents will be contacted immediately.

  • Sickness and Absence

Please do not bring your child to Basils Farm if they have a high temperature, have been sick or have had diarrhoea within the previous 48 hours. We do not offer refunds for holidays, illness or choosing to miss sessions.

  • Cancellations and Refunds

Block bookings or individually booked sessions may be cancelled no less than two weeks before the first booked session date and a refund will be issued. Block bookings or single sessions that are cancelled less than two weeks before the first booked session are not eligible for a refund. Refunds are not issued for illness, holidays or choosing to miss a session.

Our sessions and events will usually go ahead in any weather, except for when there are particularly high wind speeds (above 40mph) and/or thunderstorms. If we are unable to run a session due to weather conditions, staff sickness or other unforeseen circumstances we will attempt to arrange an alternative session. If this is not possible then you will be offered a refund.
